Publication Ethics
Publication Ethics of Islamic Texts: Journal of Tafsir and Hadith Studies
Islamic Texts: Journal of Tafsir and Hadith Studies* is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics in line with the guidelines of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). The integrity of academic research and publishing depends on honesty, transparency, and accountability shared by all parties: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.
Duties of Authors
Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original, free from plagiarism, and have not been published or under review elsewhere. Proper citation of sources is required, and any use of others’ work must be acknowledged. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the content and must disclose any potential conflicts of interest. Regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), authors may use AI tools to improve grammar, language, or formatting; however, AI cannot be credited as an author, nor should it be used to generate original ideas, interpretations, or analyses. Authors must clearly declare in the methodology or acknowledgment section if AI-assisted tools were employed.
Duties of Editors
Editors are responsible for fair and transparent peer-review processes, ensuring decisions are based solely on academic merit and relevance to the journal’s scope. Editors must maintain confidentiality of submissions and ensure that manuscripts are reviewed impartially, without bias or conflict of interest. Editors will also monitor ethical issues such as plagiarism, duplicate submissions, or inappropriate use of AI in manuscripts.
Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers play a crucial role in maintaining the quality of the journal. They must provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback. Reviewers should respect confidentiality, avoid conflicts of interest, and refrain from using unpublished material for personal advantage. If AI tools are used to support the review process (e.g., for checking grammar or plagiarism), reviewers must take full responsibility for the evaluation and cannot rely solely on AI outputs.
Duties of Publisher
The publisher, LPPM Institut Daarul Qur’an Jakarta, ensures that all stages of the publication process adhere to ethical standards. The publisher is responsible for maintaining transparency, addressing misconduct, and safeguarding the integrity of the scholarly record.
