Author Guidelines
Authors who wish to submit manuscripts to *Islamic Texts: Journal of Tafsir and Hadith Studies* are expected to follow the guidelines below:
Manuscript Submission
- Manuscripts must be submitted online through the OJS submission system at: \[link OJS].
- Submissions must be original, not previously published, and not under consideration by another journal.
- The manuscript should be written in English or Bahasa Indonesia in a clear and concise style.
Manuscript Format
- Use Times New Roman, font size 12, single column, with 1.15 line spacing.
- The length of the manuscript should be between 5,000–8,000 words (including references, tables, and figures).
- The article must follow this structure: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements (if any), and References.
- Sub-headings are numbered (e.g., 1. Introduction, 2. Methods, 2.1 Research Design).
Title and Abstract
- The title should consist of 5–14 words, written in Times New Roman 12, bold, all capital letters. Subtitles, if any, should be in parentheses using sentence case.
- Abstracts must be written in both English and Bahasa Indonesia.
- Abstract length: 150–250 words, in a single paragraph, containing research objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.
- Provide 3–5 keywords separated by semicolons (;).
Introduction
- Contains background of the study, a brief literature review, gap analysis, and the novelty/contribution of the research.
- Avoid long definitions or basic concepts that are already commonly understood.
- Clearly state the research problem and objectives at the end of the introduction.
Methods
- The method should explain the type of research (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method).
- For qualitative studies, explain whether it is library research or field research, data collection techniques, and analysis approach.
- For quantitative studies, include population, sample, instruments, and data analysis techniques.
- Written concisely, covering 10–15% of the total manuscript length.
Results and Discussion
- Present findings clearly, supported by tables, figures, or citations when necessary.
- Discussion should interpret findings in relation to previous studies and theoretical frameworks.
- When citing Qur’anic verses, use LPMQ font (size 11), and write translations in Times New Roman 11 italic, single-spaced, directly below the verse without words such as “Artinya:”.
- Qur’anic translation should follow the official version from the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag RI), preferably using **Qur’an Kemenag in Word (QKIW)**.
- Hadith must be cited from classical sources, written with full diacritical marks (harakat), and followed by accurate translation and citation (e.g., HR. al-Bukhari).
Conclusion
- Written in one concise paragraph, summarizing the main findings and contributions of the study.
- Avoid repeating the abstract or introduction.
References
- References must follow MLA Style.
- Use Mendeley or Zotero for reference management.
- Minimum 20 references, with at least 40% from the last 5 years, and 60% from primary sources (books, journal articles, or authoritative works).
Tables and Figures
- Tables must be typed in Times New Roman 11, single spacing.
- Figures should be clear, in high resolution, and numbered sequentially.
- Each table and figure must be referenced in the text and given a title.
Use of AI Tools
- AI tools may only be used to support grammar and language refinement.
- They may not be used for generating research content, ideas, interpretations, or data analysis.
- Authors must acknowledge the use of AI tools in the Acknowledgment section if applied.
Review Process
- All submitted manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review.
- The editorial team reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s standards or scope.
