Author Guidelines

Authors who wish to submit manuscripts to *Islamic Texts: Journal of Tafsir and Hadith Studies* are expected to follow the guidelines below:

Manuscript Submission

  1. Manuscripts must be submitted online through the OJS submission system at: \[link OJS].
  2. Submissions must be original, not previously published, and not under consideration by another journal.
  3. The manuscript should be written in English or Bahasa Indonesia in a clear and concise style.

Manuscript Format

  1. Use Times New Roman, font size 12, single column, with 1.15 line spacing.
  2. The length of the manuscript should be between 5,000–8,000 words (including references, tables, and figures).
  3. The article must follow this structure: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements (if any), and References.
  4. Sub-headings are numbered (e.g., 1. Introduction, 2. Methods, 2.1 Research Design).

Title and Abstract

  1. The title should consist of 5–14 words, written in Times New Roman 12, bold, all capital letters. Subtitles, if any, should be in parentheses using sentence case.
  2. Abstracts must be written in both English and Bahasa Indonesia.
  3. Abstract length: 150–250 words, in a single paragraph, containing research objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.
  4. Provide 3–5 keywords separated by semicolons (;).

Introduction

  1. Contains background of the study, a brief literature review, gap analysis, and the novelty/contribution of the research.
  2. Avoid long definitions or basic concepts that are already commonly understood.
  3. Clearly state the research problem and objectives at the end of the introduction.

Methods

  1. The method should explain the type of research (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-method).
  2. For qualitative studies, explain whether it is library research or field research, data collection techniques, and analysis approach.
  3. For quantitative studies, include population, sample, instruments, and data analysis techniques.
  4. Written concisely, covering 10–15% of the total manuscript length.

Results and Discussion

  1. Present findings clearly, supported by tables, figures, or citations when necessary.
  2. Discussion should interpret findings in relation to previous studies and theoretical frameworks.
  3. When citing Qur’anic verses, use LPMQ font (size 11), and write translations in Times New Roman 11 italic, single-spaced, directly below the verse without words such as “Artinya:”.
  4. Qur’anic translation should follow the official version from the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag RI), preferably using **Qur’an Kemenag in Word (QKIW)**.
  5. Hadith must be cited from classical sources, written with full diacritical marks (harakat), and followed by accurate translation and citation (e.g., HR. al-Bukhari).

Conclusion

  1. Written in one concise paragraph, summarizing the main findings and contributions of the study.
  2. Avoid repeating the abstract or introduction.

References

  1. References must follow MLA Style.
  2. Use Mendeley or Zotero for reference management.
  3. Minimum 20 references, with at least 40% from the last 5 years, and 60% from primary sources (books, journal articles, or authoritative works).

Tables and Figures

  1. Tables must be typed in Times New Roman 11, single spacing.
  2. Figures should be clear, in high resolution, and numbered sequentially.
  3. Each table and figure must be referenced in the text and given a title.

Use of AI Tools

  1. AI tools may only be used to support grammar and language refinement.
  2. They may not be used for generating research content, ideas, interpretations, or data analysis.
  3. Authors must acknowledge the use of AI tools in the Acknowledgment section if applied.

Review Process

  1. All submitted manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review.
  2. The editorial team reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not meet the journal’s standards or scope.
