Focus and Scope

Islamic Texts: Journal of Tafsir and Hadith Studies focuses on publishing scholarly works in the field of Qur’anic and Hadith studies, both from classical and contemporary perspectives. The journal seeks to provide a platform for the discussion of methodologies in tafsir, such as classical, modern, thematic, linguistic, hermeneutical, and contextual approaches. It also gives special attention to thematic exegesis (tafsir maudhū‘i) and its relevance to the challenges of modern society, as well as comparative analyses of tafsir across schools of thought and intellectual traditions.

In the field of Hadith studies, the journal covers research on sanad and matn, including issues of authenticity, transmission, and criticism, alongside discussions of the role of Hadith in shaping Islamic law, ethics, and education. It also highlights the study of living Hadith, examining how Hadith is interpreted and practiced within diverse social, cultural, and religious contexts. These areas of study reflect the journal’s commitment to fostering a deeper understanding of Hadith as both a textual and lived tradition.

Beyond textual analysis, the journal encourages interdisciplinary approaches that connect Qur’anic and Hadith studies with broader fields such as history, sociology, anthropology, and digital humanities. By doing so, the journal aims to bridge the gap between classical scholarship and contemporary realities, providing fresh insights and innovative perspectives. Manuscripts that contribute to the enrichment of academic discourse, encourage critical reflection, and open new horizons in Qur’anic and Hadith studies are highly welcomed.
