This study examines the concept of self-control in the story of Prophet Yusuf, particularly in Surah Yusuf verses 23–24, by referring to Tafsir al-Misbah by M. Quraish Shihab and Tafsir al-Tahrir wa al-Tanwir by Ibn 'Ashur. The study aims to explore the forms of self-control demonstrated by Prophet Yusuf and their relevance to human life. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods. Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using a descriptive-analytical method based on the interpretations of the two exegetes. The findings reveal that Prophet Yusuf's self-control is reflected in his ability to restrain worldly desires, preserve personal chastity ('iffah), remain patient in the face of trials, and prioritize obedience to Allah. The study further finds that both exegetes interpret Prophet Yusuf's rejection of Zulaikha's temptation as a manifestation of self-control rooted in faith. However, they differ in emphasis: Tafsir al-Misbah highlights the psychological and contextual dimensions of self-control, whereas Tafsir al-Tahrir wa al-Tanwir places greater emphasis on the spiritual aspects and linguistic analysis of the Qur'anic verses.
