This study aims to examine the intertextual relationship between the Qur’an and the Gospel in the narrative of Prophet Jesus and to reconstruct the meaning of his identity and mission from the perspectives of Islamic and Christian theology. This study employs a qualitative method using library research of a descriptive-analytical and comparative-interpretive nature. Data were obtained from primary sources consisting of Qur’anic verses and Gospel texts, as well as secondary sources from exegetical, theological, and intertextuality studies. Analysis was conducted using Julia Kristeva’s intertextuality approach and Hans-Georg Gadamer’s hermeneutics, involving the identification of textual relationship patterns, analysis of narrative similarities and differences, and contextual reconstruction of meaning. The research findings indicate that the relationship between the Qur’an and the Gospel reflects patterns of parallelism, transformation, and theological reinterpretation. Narrative similarities such as the virgin birth, miracles, and the role of angels serve as points of convergence, yet result in distinct constructions of meaning. The Qur’an affirms Jesus as a prophet within the framework of tawhid, whereas the Gospel positions him as a divine figure within the framework of salvation. Thus, the identity and mission of Prophet Jesus are the result of a dynamic construction of meaning in accordance with the theological horizons of each tradition, and open up space for a more inclusive and constructive interfaith dialogue.
